Carly Appleton is a PR & Communications expert with more than 20 years of experience. Carly has built a career bringing stories, people, and communities together through communications, public relations, and special events. From major initiatives with the Calgary Stampede to economic development projects in Cape Breton, she is passionate about creating meaningful connections and celebrating the people and places that make communities thrive.

Bill Culp is the Film Industry Liaison for the Cape Breton Partnership and was instrumental in the creation of the Nova Scotia Film and Television “Distant Location” Incentive. Bill’s work in the film industry includes location support, crew development, and production financing, and he has worked on over 100 feature films in Canadian post-production.

Tamara Deverell is an Academy Award–winning Film Production Designer (Frankenstein, 2025, dir. Guillermo del Toro). Tamara lives in Unama'ki / Cape Breton and currently serves as Co-Chair of the Inverness County Centre for the Arts.

Amber Bernard is a Mi'kmaw filmmaker and journalist from We'koqma'q First Nation. Her stories explore social justice, politics, and Indigenous rights.

Penny McDonald is a Nova Scotia–based film and television producer. She is predominantly known for her producing roles at Whizbang Films, frequently collaborating with Canadian creator Paul Gross and The National Theatre School of Canada on notable national projects and productions.

Alicia Peres is a former editor of nonfiction who has divided her time between Tkarón:to/Toronto and Unama'ki / Cape Breton for more than 25 years. She has worked with several arts organizations, most recently as a board member of the Cabot Trail Writers Festival.

Ken Woroner is a stills photographer with decades of experience on North American and international film and television projects. Ken holds an MFA in Documentary Media from Toronto Metropolitan University and resides in Unama'ki / Cape Breton.
