Featuring the short films Songs of Nova Scotia (1958), The Chairmaker and the Boys (1959), and Song of Seasons (1977), The Films of Grant Crabtree will be presented with artist Caitrian MacNeil and Christie MacNeil of Eltuek Arts Centre, both of East Margaree and Sydney. They will share stories of Grant Crabtree, a Canadian photographer, cinematographer, director, and visual storyteller whose career spanned the formative decades of Canadian film with Crawley Films, the National Film Board, and the National Research Council. He made East Margaree his home in the 1970s, continuing to photograph and make films on the Island. The screenings will make space for the audience to reflect on the people and places the films hold, and an island changing within living memory.
