Based on true events and laced with wry humour, Still Mine (2012) is a heartfelt love story about an 89-year-old New Brunswicker (James Cromwell) who comes up against the system when he sets out to build a more suitable house for his wife (Geneviève Bujold), who suffers from the early stages of Alzheimer's. Although Craig Morrison is using the same building methods his father, a shipbuilder, taught him, times have changed. An overzealous government building inspector finds just about everything unacceptable, including the unstamped wood Craig has milled from his own trees. As Irene becomes increasingly ill and amidst a series of stop-work orders, Craig races to finish the house. Hauled into court and facing jail, Craig takes a final stance. Michael McGowan is a Canadian filmmaker. He is also known for writing and directing the feature films One Week (2008), Saint Ralph (2004), Score: A Hockey Musical (2010), and All My Puny Sorrows (2021). Michael has won multiple awards for his work in film and television, including honours from the Directors Guild of Canada, the Writers Guild of Canada, and the Canadian Screen Awards. He is currently directing Sullivan's Crossing in Halifax.
